Day 3- Sun July 3/2016

I said I had a campsite picked out after dinner. Well I ended camping behind the restaurant and it was a good thing, it started to rain as just as I was getting in the tent. It was another great day.

Thanks for the comments Hon, Jill and Patty/Pete.

Another great day for riding. I stopped at Tim Horton's for breakfast  and I can tell you now that was the only meal of the day. I met two locals and were asking me about the trip and I each gave them cards to follow my trip. The way they sound their words like sure and it sounds like shore. Lloyd when I get back to work, give me some of that Cape Breton lingo.

That reminds me from last night at the restaurant my server`s name is Belinda Marshall from Glace Bay. I asked her do you know Shawn Brown or Lloyd Currie. She got al excited and said I know Shawn Brown and I got excited and said that`s gold. Belinda showed me  a picture of Shawn and it wasn`t him. Darn. I just thought I throw that in.

I reached St. Peters and saw the McCaskilll`s childhood home. He is the photographer of the Bluenose which you see on the back of the dime. I saw the canal and sailboat going through the canal system. This was built to allow vessels to take a shortcut from the Atlantic to the Bra Dor Lake.

From St. Peters to Ben Ion, it was climbing and coasting while seeing the Bra Dor lake to my left. very beautiful. I even pulled over for a swim waiting for zero traffic to strip down. I pulled into a park area at 100kms.and met a couple from Glace Bay and asked how far to Louisburg. He talked to his phone and it was 58 kms.. I want to get to Louisburg tonight so I can spend the whole day at the Fortress of Louisburg. I spent to much time in St Peters and now I am making up for lost time. It is 5pm and it will take me 3hrs. to reach Louisburg. It was a great ride with a few climbs. I got there at 8pm and having  dinner at the Fortress Inn. I had soup without crackers and steak without mashed potatoes, AAAH. I asked for no charge for onions and mushrooms and she said no problem. I finished off with pie and tea and that filled me up. I got to the campsite just down the road and picked out my spot for it was closed. Black Flies are really bad.

Camping in Louisburg

Today`s ride- 160 kms.

Total- 491kms.
