Flying to Dartmouth- Thurs. June 30th

Hi everybody

As always things don`t go well with me. Checking my bags with security, they wouldn`t allow my sunscreen and my bike tools. I told them I need them and could I try to get them in my cargo bag which has already been checked. I went back to the same guy and he said we normally don`t do that but in this case I will. I came back and now there are new security. I had to the whole thing done over again and the security was questioning the bike lock but in the end she let it go.

Flight was good. I met a nice lady on the flight from Ottawa to Dartmouth and her name is Muriel Haughn and she is visiting family in Bridgewater. I gave her my trip card to follow my trip.

Sam was at the airport and we drove to pick up the bike. I met Shawn and thanks Shawn for getting the bike ready. I followed Sam home riding the bike and the hill he lives on hasn`t changed.

My right elbow was in pain and swollen. We had dinner and I asked Sam to take me to the hospital. The doctor told me I have Bursatis. He gave me an iv of antibiotics and a prescription. We were there for 3hrs. Sorry Sam and thanks. It was a  long night.

getting ready

Hello everybody

I am now packed and ready to go. Uncle Sam will be at the airport to pick me up and Shawn the bike guy has told me the bike is ready and will wait for me before closing if there are any delays. Faith and I will be at the airport around 6am.

While I`m riding the bike, Faith will be maintaining the family home and taking care of little Annie. I hope Faith doesn`t work to hard, she`s retired.

start packing

Hello everyone

Four days to go. Sleeping in the tent went well, felt good in the morning and went for a ride. I told Faith, I don`t think I have ever washed the sleeping bag since my out east ride back in 09. Faith washed it for me and it now smells great.

I have emailed Uncle Sam my flight arrival.

I am now gathering all my stuff together for packing hoping I don`t forget anything.

Sleeping in the tent

Hello everyone

Five days to go and tonight I will be sleeping in the tent. The tent looks good and it is a perfect night f or a trial run. I will be cheating by using a pillow instead of a folded up sweat shirt. I asked Faith if she wanted to join me, she declined because she couldn`t use her own pillow.

Today was my last long ride,90 km. and tomorrow I will do 50km. and Mon. I will ride to work and that will be it until the ride begins.

Hello Everyone

Six days to go and I am with Pete my brother in law to do some tweaking with the finish posts and it now looks good. Life is good. Shawn from Dartmouth received my email regarding the time my bike will be arriving to his store. Shawn will be ready on Tuesday to build the bike. I took Ava on her first bike ride for preparation on the last day of school where I will pick her up on the motorcycle. Exciting!

I want to thank Pete for the work he did to make this blog easy for me to be able to share stories and pictures with you.
